About Us
Up North Tours is the culmination of spending every summer Up North as a kid. Growing up in Ann Arbor and then getting a degree from Michigan State, northern Michigan was where we spent our vacations. It gave me an appreciation for the outdoors that led to a path I never could have imagined coming out of MSU: A 20-year career guiding rivers from the Grand Canyon to Patagonia.
Today, all that experience as a guide has led to the creation of a company whose goal is to provide the best quality interpretation of flora and fauna, geology, and human and natural history that this incredible area has to offer. Our goal is for guests to leave a tour with fantastic photos, great memories and a greater appreciation and understanding of the Great Lakes region.
