Your Guide is much more than just simply your driver. All of our guides are a wealth of knowledge about the human and natural history, flora and fauna, and geology of the area. Allow our guides to share their knowledge and come home with much more than just pictures.

Our goal at Up North Tours is to show our guests the beauty of the Northern Arizona region and all that it has to offer. Owner and founder Matt Webster, started the journey over 20 years ago, when after college he decided to start river guiding in California. That led to guide stints all over the country as well as internationally. In 2000, he was able to row a boat down the Grand canyon and from that moment, there was no turning back.

We are a locally run, Flagstaff based tour company. We’ve spent well over 1000 days sleeping underneath the stars at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It’s basically a second home.

In 2019, we started Up North Tours. Then it was based in Northern Michigan, running interpretive based day tours to a National Lakeshore outside of Traverse City Michigan called Sleeping Bear Dunes. All of the stuff we had learned through 20+ years of guiding out west, we brought to Northern Michigan. In 2024, we brought it back to Flagstaff.

The beauty of the outdoor world has made us what we are today. We look forward to showing and sharing these places with our guests.
