PRIVATE CARRIAGE TOUR – For an hourly rate, you can have your own private horse drawn carriage tour of the island.

FORT MACKINAC – Visit Historic Fort Mackinac, a strategically located revolutionary war era military outpost and home to Michigan’s oldest building.

THE GRAND HOTEL – Boasting the largest porch in the world, take in the spectacular views of the straits of Mackinac and Mackinac bridge. Lunch service and self-guided tours options are available.

BICYCLE RENTAL – With a fantastic paved trail around the island, renting bikes is a great way to navigate your way around the island.

DOWNTOWN MACKINAC – Stroll through the historic streets of Mackinac and grab some fudge and souvenirs!

Trip Logistics

Pick up Location – Our Meeting spot for Mackinac Transport  is the Meijer parking lot located on M-72. Address is 4900 M-72, Williamsburg, MI 49690

Meeting Time – 7:30 am. The drive up is about 2 hours so you’ll arrive at the docks at approximately 9:30 am. 

Ferry Ride – You’ll catch the first available ferry (in summer they run every 15 minutes) and depending on weather conditions and route, (some go under Mackinac bridge) the ride takes anywhere from 20-40 minutes. 

Arrive on Mackinac Island – You should arrive on the Island by 10:30 a.m. at the latest. Note: Mackinac can be very busy on certain days; holidays, busy weekends. Delays in boarding the ferry are possible. Up North Tours is not responsible for boarding delays.

Enjoy Your Time on Mackinac – Your Up North Tours guide will accompany you on the ferry ride to the island and can get you orientated once you arrive. From there, you can enjoy your time on the island anyway you like.

Return Ferry – In the afternoon, you’ll rendezvous with your Up North Tours guide to coordinate a 3:30-3:45 p.m. departure for the mainland.

Return to Transport – We like to take the scenic way back along the Michigan coast, passing through towns like Petoskey, Charlevoix and Elk Rapids when we can. Heavy traffic, construction, and unforeseen delays dictate or route home. Approximate arrival back at Miejer is 6 p.m.
