Tour Itinerary

Pick up in Flagstaff.

90 minute drive to the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.

1st vista is Yavapai point with views of the Colorado river and Phantom ranch.

An easy, leisurely walk along the rim trail that passes historic locations such as the El Tovar Hotel, The Bright Angel trailhead and the Kolb Studio.

Continue to follow the rim of the canyon, making various stops such as Grandview Point and Moran Point.

Our lunch is catered by a local Flagstaff restaurant. We’ll find a good spot to set up and guests can enjoy lunch!

Continuing on, we make stops at Lipan point where guests can see 3 major geologic changes in the course of about 12 river miles.

Our last vista is the famous Desert View Watchtower. Guest willing to climb the 85 steps to the top will be rewarded by being at the highest point of elevation anywhere along the South Rim of the Garand Canyon.

At this vista, we also have the Desert View Trading Post where guests can get Ice Cream and coffee if they so choose.

Our drive home takes us through part of the Navajo Reservation with an optional stop at the Cameron Trading Post.

We just got back from our tour. It was fantastic! Our guide Matt is incredibly knowledgeable about the Canyon as well as geology, the river, history, etc. Matt is just plain smart, interesting, and very engaging. You won’t experience the Canyon as well without one of these tours.

This tour was the perfect combination of learning about and exploring the sites. Our guide, Matt, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly – request him if you can! We learned all about Flagstaff, native peoples and their land, and the Grand Canyon itself. We hopped out of the van st various sites and had the option to walk as little or as much as we liked. I highly recommend!

At first I thought this was a bit pricey. It was completely worth it and then some. We had a family of three, there was a couple and a family of five. The group was not too big and the vehicle was perfect. Matt was our guide and his knowledge was stellar. Kids and adults alike learned more than we thought we would. As we drove from viewing site to site, I couldn’t help but notice how many people looked lost or not quite sure which direction to go, this confirmed that we made the right choice with the right tour company. There were other visitors listening in on Matt’s descriptive comments at each site, I cannot say enough about this experience. We loved it so much that we will come back and book a tour for a different area next time. Great group interaction, learning experience, and the highlight of our vacation.
